A Lifetime of Loving Coffee

From Honduras to the heart
of Masterton

I’m Marvin Guerrero, owner and Head Roaster of Gracias Coffee. My life in coffee began on my family’s farm in the hills of Honduras, in Central America. My grandfather, Don Luciano (the cafe’s namesake), was a coffee farmer in La Esperanza, in the Intibucá region – one of the highest altitudes in Central America, where the best coffee beans are grown.

After working in hospitality all around the world, I arrived in New Zealand with my Kiwi-born wife Juliet over 15 years ago, settling in the Wairarapa, where she is originally from. I started Don Luciano Café and Gracias in 2017 - the first coffee roastery in Masterton.

I source the best beans I can find for roasting in small batches. I send our coffee orders out to our customers as soon as possible; this is key to ensuring that each batch is fresh and delivered to you with its precious flavours and tasting notes.

“At Gracias, we want to get the best result for every single roast. The small-batch roasting ensures you're getting the freshest beans with a rich delicious flavour”.
